Foundation Seeds’ roots started development in 2011 when one of our founders selected The Wife for use in a CBD cannabis breeding program that resulted the variety Spectrum. These cultivars were selected for use in medical cannabis breeding programs to elevate CBD levels on high THC production cultivars. After seeing the potential for high-CBD and low-THC resin production, Spectrum and The Wife were included in the cannabis genome sequencing project lead by Colorado University in 2014.
