4 DIGITAL TRENDS FOR THE FIRST HALF OF THE DECADE

Date: April 3rd, 2020

For this article, is very important to mention the date, as we have just fully been hit by a world-wide emergency: COVID-19 pandemic. This obviously influenced my thoughts and predictions for the next five years. These topics try to embrace a whole sector of our living behaviors and habits.

SUSTAINABILITY

The earth's resources are becoming increasingly scarce, and this has created a conscious consumer of what and how the product is made. Capitalism is evolving sustainability for a positive way of the planet. People now demand products that are socially meaningful, resource minded, and sustainable.

5G

5G technology is going to create a great opportunity for many companies, and drastically start changing our network connections. From sales to ads, the market will change and adjust with greater speed. 5G will help optimize the relationship between people and machines, with artificial intelligence not lagging far behind.

DESIGN PROCESSES

The focus on design will evolve from personal to utilitarian. The design of physical and digital products will be more focused on all stages of the life of that product. Making them more durable, better quality, and more focused on details. Custome made will be more and more valuable as an asset for products, consumers need to feel heard and understood when using a product. One size fits all will slowly start to disappear.

HEALTH AND MEDICINE

The world is more connected now than ever, digitally, and physically. This will continue, but with many changes in physical transportation, planes, trains, for health reasons. Never before has it been possible to facilitate the rapid travel of different parts of the world, this will cause a revision of the positions of the state regarding contagions, greetings, customs, and migrations. So the market and digital communication will continue to increase at the same or higher speed than before.
